Paul Bohannon

B.A. Political Science '72
Paul Bohannon represented the oil, gas, pipeline and hazardous chemical industries for 43 years, primarily involving environmentally related jury trials. He was a colleague of the State Bar of Texas Pro Bono College for seven years. His pro bono work included counseling NGOs and the Mongolian government on human rights issues arising out of Chinese mining, and the Union of Myanmar on Chinese mega-dam construction concerns causing civil insurrections. He class-mentored OSU political science students in the Myanmar project as it was evolving. Bohannon also endowed the OSU Bohannon Award for Excellence in Political Science, the University of New Mexico Environmental Law Prize, and the DeMolay Distinguished Service Award. He is a Trustee on the DeMolay International Foundation and sits as an Honorary Member of DeMolay International’s governing council.
He was the only Texas lawyer awarded the Trial Lawyer’s Board of Regents Advocate Award for Oil Spill Litigation. U.S. News & World Report and Chambers consistently recognized him as a leading American lawyer.
Bohannon received his B.A. in Political Science in 1972, and his J.D. from the SMU Dedman School of Law in 1975 (Order of Coif). He now resides in Del City, Oklahoma.
