Ardmore, Okla., native Terry Cline, Ph.D., earned both his master's and doctorate in clincial psychology from OSU.

 

He is completing his tenure as the Oklahoma Commissioner of Health, which he began in June 2009. In February 2011, Gov. Mary Fallin appointed him to serve concurrently as the Oklahoma Cabinet Secretary of Health and Human Services.

 

Prior to this, Cline served as a health attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Iraq under the administrations of Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama. Before that position, he also served as administrator for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration from 2006-2008.

 

At the state level, he has also served as the Oklahoma Secretary of Health and as Oklahoma Commissioner of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services under former Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry.

 

As a clinical psychologist, he has served as the clinical director of the Cambridge Youth Guidance Center in Cambridge, Mass., as a staff psychologist at McLean Hospital in Belmont, Mass., as a clinical instructor at the Harvard Medical School Department of Psychiatry, and as chairman of the governing board for a Harvard teaching hospital in Cambridge.
