Mickey Coats earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from OSU in 1976, and added an MBA from the University of Tulsa in 1982. He lettered four years as a member of the OSU varsity tennis team and holds the record for most singles wins in a career. From 1978 to1982, he was an adjunct professor of mathematics at the University of Tulsa, as well as the head tennis coach.
Mickey’s second career took him to the Bank of Oklahoma for the next 35 years. His career at the bank was based in the oil and gas commercial lending division, where he rose to Executive Vice President, Manager of the Energy Banking Division. He managed and directed energy offices in Denver, Dallas, Tulsa, Houston and Oklahoma City, with more than 3 billion dollars in assets. This division typically generated a significant percentage of the total corporate earnings each year. During his career, he participated in, and graduated from, Leadership Tulsa as well as Leadership Oklahoma.
