John David joined the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) in 1989 as Vice President of Broadcaster Congressional Relations. In 1992, he became Senior Vice President of NAB Radio and was promoted in 1998 to Executive Vice President. His responsibilities included liaison with the NAB Radio Board and membership and service to NAB member radio stations. He was also responsible for the NAB Crystal community service awards and the NAB Marconi Awards for outstanding programming. John was also responsible for radio sessions at the NAB annual conventions and the annual Radio Show. He transitioned to Senior Advisor to NAB in February, 2018.
His broadcast career includes programming and management positions at radio stations in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas. As Executive Vice President of J. R. Broadcasting Company based in Joplin, MO, he was Owner and General Manager of radio stations in Missouri and Kansas. He is a past president of the Missouri Broadcasters Association and served a term as Chairman of the Joplin Chamber of Commerce.
The Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters inducted John into the Oklahoma Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2005. The Missouri Broadcasters Association presented him their Distinguished Broadcaster Award and inducted John in their MBA Hall of Fame in 2011.
John has recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Illinois Broadcasters Association. The NAB is presenting the National Radio Award to John at the Radio Show in 2018. And, the Library of American Broadcasting will induct John as a Giant of American Broadcasting and Electronic Arts in New York City in November, 2018.
Radio Ink, a national radio trade publication, has placed John in their list of the Top 40 Most Powerful People in Radio since 2000. John has a BS degree in Radio/Television Communications from Oklahoma State University.
