Sabine Davis
B.A. ’93 – French and German, ’95 – M.A. English/TESL
Sabine Davis graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1993 with bachelor’s degrees in French and German followed by a master's in 1995 in English/Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) with an emphasis in linguistics.
Since 2001, Sabine has been teaching French language and culture courses at Washington
State University in Pullman, Washington. She is a teaching career-track faculty member
at WSU and became head of the French section in 2008.
In 2011, Sabine received the WSU College of Liberal Arts Excellence in Teaching by
a Clinical Faculty award and was inducted in the WSU Teaching Academy in 2014. Over
the years, she developed an interest in curriculum and designed two courses: an introductory
course in linguistics and an innovative capstone course, “French Culture Through Wine.”
The latter has become especially popular. Sabine also created a new degree in collaboration
with her colleagues from other languages; WSU’s French for the Professions degree
aligns the study of French language and culture with students’ future professional
goals.
As a French cinema enthusiast, Sabine founded the Palouse French Film Festival in
2010. For its 12th edition coming up in October, the festival will present four recent
French films to a wide audience of students, faculty and Francophiles.
