Isolete De Almeida immigrated from Venezuela in 1977 and started at OSU in 1979. She graduated in 1983 and earned teaching assistantships in the College of Education and in the Foreign Languages Department. She taught art courses and Spanish and worked at the Office of International Programs.

In 1984, she joined the National Arts Education Association and the Oklahoma Arts Education Association. She was the OAEA Higher Education Representative and coordinated OAEA conferences at Cameron University in Lawton, OU in Norman, SWOSU in Weatherford, and OSU in Stillwater.

She attended and presented at state and national arts conferences multiple times. She was president of OAEA and is the Awards Chair. She chairs the Oklahoma Alliance for Arts Education.

She taught Visual Arts and Spanish K-12 at Olive Public Schools and taught Art and Spanish at Stillwater High School. In Chadron, Nebraska, she taught at Chadron State College in the College of Education and Graduate Studies. There, she taught education courses and was a member of the Nebraska Art Teachers organization. She then took a position at Cameron University in the College of Education and taught education courses. Wanting to be more involved with the arts, she applied for a coordinator position at UCO and there she taught art methods courses and supervised student teachers and interns.

Upon retirement, she learned how to quilt, became a member of the Edmond Golden Harmonizers Choir, volunteered at Positive, volunteered at Blac Inc. “Charlie Christian” fundraiser, and volunteers at the Cowboy Hall Of Fame Museum “Prix de West” event.
