Patti Drennan

Bachelor of Music Education

Patti Drennan earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree at Oklahoma State and a Master’s of Music Education at the University of Oklahoma. She taught choral music in Norman for 28 years, the first 20 at West Mid-High — where she was voted Teacher of the Year — and eight more at Norman High. She was awarded the 2004 Director of Distinction, given by the Oklahoma Choral Directors Association, and in 2021 she was named Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Honoree. 

 

An active composer and arranger, Patti has 800 published choral octavos and piano books and has sold more than two million copies of her works. Patti has served as a clinician for school and church workshops in 22 states as well as Canada, and she has presented four sessions at the Texas Music Educators Convention. She was a guest director at numerous Composer Weekends and has adjudicated choirs in three states. 

 

Patti served for 10 years as Music/Worship Arts Director at First Baptist Church in Norman and is now Music Director at NorthHaven Baptist Church in Norman. Patti also sings in a professional gospel choir and recorded a Christmas album with her daughter titled “A Mother Daughter Christmas.” Patti and her late husband Jim have two grown children, a son-in-law, and two beautiful grandsons.
