Ph.D. Zoology '66

Margaret S. Ewing graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio and continued her education at Oklahoma State University, receiving a Master’s of Science and a Ph.D. in Zoology. Dr. Ewing returned to Oklahoma State after several out-of-state moves to become an assistant professor of zoology.

Dr. Ewing has published numerous peer-reviewed manuscripts, co-authored two books and edited a professional journal during her time at OSU. She has also received honors and awards for teaching, scholarly work, professional service and graduate student mentoring. Dr. Ewing was the first woman to be promoted to full professor in the department of zoology at OSU.

Dr. Ewing’s studies focus on the bridges between biology and the humanities. She created the Margaret S. Ewing Distinguished Lecture Series to bring noted scientists to locations to speak about such bridges.
