Chris Fore, Ph.D., is founder and director of the Indian Health Service (IHS) TeleBehavioral Health Center of Excellence (TBHCE). He was born and raised in Oklahoma, and is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he received his bachelor's degree in psychology in 1991. He pursued additional education at Oklahoma State University and received his doctorate in child clinical psychology in 1997. Upon completion of internship and graduation, Fore began practicing psychology at the IHS ACL Service Unit and for 10 years he served multiple tribes and communities in New Mexico. After a brief time away from IHS as a forensic psychologist, Fore returned as the Albuquerque Area Behavioral Health Consultant, overseeing behavioral health services in New Mexico, Colorado, Texas and Utah. During this time, he established the IHS TeleBehavioral Health Center of Excellence. The mandate of the Center is to explore the feasibility of telebehavioral health within IHS (regionally and nationally), improve access to care, develop models of care, and to address sustainability. In 2016, Fore accepted a position with the IHS Headquarters Division of Behavioral Health as the Director of the TBHCE. He and the TBHCE have received numerous awards, including three IHS Director’s Awards. Fore resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with his wife, who he met at OSU, and his two sons.
