B.S. History '76

Lieutenant Colonel Scott L. Huston (Ret.) was born on Dec. 12, 1953, in Munich, Germany. He graduated from San Gorgonio High school in San Bernardino, California, in 1972, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree from OSU in 1976 and a Master of Science degree in operations management from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1982.

Huston was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in May 1976 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at OSU and entered active duty in January 1977, earning his navigator wings. He served as a navigator, navigator instructor and evaluator, Air Force Liaison to U.S. Army III Corps, wing and major command executive officer, major command airlift director, squadron operations officer and final assignment as detachment commander proving government oversight for a multimillion-dollar Air Force contract.

Retiring after 22 years in the Air Force as a Master Navigator with 4,000 flight hours in the C-130 aircraft, his decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with four oak-leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.

After retirement, Huston worked for Lockheed Martin as a C-130 academic and aircraft simulator instructor for 13 years. He also worked as a scoreboard operator and ground crew for the Arkansas Travelers Baseball Club, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Working for the Arkansas travelers led to opportunities to work as a game clock/shot clock operator for the University of Arkansas in Little Rock’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, which led to working the first and second rounds and finals of the NCAA Basketball Tournaments as shot clock operator.

Most recently, Huston worked as a guest relations supervisor at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
