John Frederick "Fred" Kempf Jr. graduated from OSU in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1976. He began practicing law in Oklahoma City in 1977, where he still practices today. He is director and shareholder with the law firm of Andrews Davis, P.C. in Oklahoma City, which he joined in July 2008.
Kempf is a member of the Oklahoma County and Oklahoma Bar Associations and is licences in all Oklahoma state courts, federal district courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a prominent member of the Oklahoma Bar Association's Real Property Law section and the Oklahoma City Real Property Lawyers Association. He has been an active member of the Oklahoma Title Examination Standards Committee of the OBA and the Oklahoma City Mineral Lawyers Society.
He and his wife, Kathy, both OSU graduates, have three adult children, all of whom have attended OSU. He has been an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Oklahoma City throughout his adult life.
