2018 Distinguished Alumni

B.S. Physics '92

An Oklahoma native, Sherry Marshall received her Bachelor’s in Physics from OSU in 1992, with additional emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction in Education and Applied Behavioral Sciences. She continued a family tradition of OSU graduates, following in her sister, mother, uncle and great-grandfather’s Cowboy boots. She met her husband, Todd, at OSU as he was finishing his Ph.D. in solid-state physics. Upon graduation, they headed to El Paso, Texas, where she worked on the national ͞Project Opportunity͟ program, creating and implementing training programs for low-income and minority women, preparing them for lucrative science and technology jobs.

A passion for informal education led Marshall back to Oklahoma, and Science Museum Oklahoma. After serving as Director of Education, Director of the Oklahoma Museum Network, and V.P. of Programs, she accepted the position of President/CEO and recently celebrated her 24th year at the museum. The museum allows her to carry on her Cowboy values - creating meaningful learning experiences, fostering curiosity, and inspiring a new generation of explorers. In addition to museum duties, Marshall also serves as an advisor and evaluator for institutions including the National Science Foundation, the Institute for Museum and Library Services and the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
