Bill Miller

William Miller

2025 Distinguished Alumni

B.A. Speech '75

William “Bill” Miller graduated from OSU in 1975 with a degree in speech communications and got straight to work.

Bill began honing his skills in communication and strategy in professional political campaigns and is credited with being one of the first political consultants in the nation to work successfully with both Republican and Democratic candidates. His achievements include victories at every political level, including two winning national campaigns in Canada.

As large corporations and prominent individuals began calling on him during times of crisis, Bill took the opportunity to segue into lobbying and communication projects. He co-founded what has now become the largest lobbying firm in Texas, HillCo.

Texas Monthly magazine has twice named Bill one of the “25 Most Powerful People in Texas.” The Houston Press voted him “Best Lobbyist” twice. Capitol Inside dubbed him one of Texas’ “Lobby Legends—in a League of their Own.” Bill is quoted extensively in politics in national publications and major daily newspapers across Texas. He was also named to the Texas Lobby Hall of Fame.

Bill has been married to his wife, Catherine, for 42 years. They have three children and three grandchildren. A resident of Austin, Texas, since 1985, Bill previously lived in Houston and Washington, D.C.
