Julie Nash

B.A. English '91

Following graduation from OSU in 1991, Julie Nash earned a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut in Storrs in English literature.

 

In 2002, she became the assistant professor of English at the University of Massachusetts Lowell teaching and publishing on British literature. She has published books and articles on British authors Aphra Behn, Anne Bronte, Maria Edgeworth, Elizabeth Gaskell, Fay Weldon as well as a college composition textbook.

 

In 2011, Nash moved full-time into higher education administration and currently serves as vice provost for undergraduate studies and student success, where she oversees retention and student success, curriculum and accreditation. She is a passionate advocate on the value of public higher education, a value that was instilled in her from her time at OSU.

 

A committed champion of open access to college, Nash has created program to support at-risk and first-generation college students, ensuring they receive the same opportunities she did, and she has become an invited speaker at regional and national workshops on student success and higher-ed leadership.

 

Prior to serving as vice provost, Nash served as the associate dean of undergraduate studies in the college of fine arts, humanities and social sciences, as honors directors and as the gender studies director.

 

Nash currently lives in Medford, Massachusetts, with her husband, Quentin Miller, whom she met in graduate school. They are proud parents of two young men, Brennan and Owen.
