Charles Onstott
B.A. ’92 – Philosophy
After completing his degree at OSU in 1992, Charles Onstott earned an M.A. in divinity from the University of Chicago in 1993. He is currently a Ph.D. student in the Pamplin School of Business at Virginia Tech.
Charles has a 30-year career in the government technology industry. Since 2021, Charles
has served as the senior vice president (SVP) and chief technology officer (CTO) at
CALIBRE Systems, a management consulting and digital transformation company. Prior
to CALIBRE, he had a 27-year career at SAIC, a Fortune 500 technology integrator.
During his time at SAIC, Charles held several executive positions, including SVP and
CTO and the SVP and service line manager for the Cloud, Cyber, and Data Science service
line. He was a founding leader of several enduring capabilities that deliver innovation
to the U.S. government, including SAIC’s Integrated Services Management Center and
SAIC’s Innovation Factory, in addition to CALIBRE’s Innovation Center.
Throughout his career, Charles has helped government agencies take advantage of technologies
such as cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics and artificial intelligence.
He has worked across the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Environmental
Protection Agency, NASA and the Intelligence Community. In 2020, Charles was named
Public Company CTO of the Year by Washington Executive.
Charles lives in Aldie, Virginia, with his wonderful wife of 24 years and two daughters.
In his spare time, he participates in endurance mountain bike races, having completed
the Shenandoah 100 Mile Mountain Bike race in 2019.
