Patricia Walker

B.S. Geology '84, M.S. Geology '86
Patricia (Patty) Walker is originally from Tulsa, Okla., but has now lived in the
Houston area for the last 35 years. She is an Oklahoma State University alumnus with
M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Geoscience from the Boone Pickens School of Geology. She
serves on the Executive Advisory Board for the school and was recently honored with
The Boone Pickens Entrepreneur Bootstrap Award. She is a recipient of the 2021 Distinguished
Alumni OSU College of Arts and Sciences.
Her career with ExxonMobil began in 1986 and has taken her to six of the seven continents
working on diverse energy projects in technical and management roles. In 2013, she
was named as a Senior Principal Geoscientist in the Upstream and in 2015, promoted
to Chief Geoscientist. In this role, she served as a technical expert and advisor
to senior leadership on global ExxonMobil activities.
In addition to her work with ExxonMobil, she has served as a geologic consultant focused
on asset evaluations. After retiring in 2020, she remains an active member of the
American Association of Petroleum Geologists serving on the Houston House of Delegates,
and was recently elected as Vice-President of the Houston Geologic Society. Her husband,
Lawrence, is a career geoscientist and they have two adult children, Amanda and Nathan.
