Mary Jane O'Connor Wooten graduated from OSU in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology. She attended M.D. Anderson School of Medical Technology, eventually becoming a certified specialist in blood banking.

Wooten has worked at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., for more than 39 years. She has also worked for the American Red Cross, Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, and has served in numerous positions for the Wichita State University School of Medical Technology.

Away from work, Wooten serves on numerous boards and is active with her church and community along with her husband Brent and their four children and five grandchildren.
