Department of Art, Graphic Design and Art History Minors
Minors
Make your resume exceptional! Adding a minor like art history or studio art enhances your major, and allows you to explore your curiosity about art.
Art History
An art history minor is a great choice for students from a variety of academic disciplines. The skills developed in art history—particularly research, writing, and the ability to analyze complex visual symbols—are directly applicable in a wide variety of professional paths, both within and outside the art world. The art history minor is especially encouraged for art students since they already take up to four art history classes for their major.
Pre-Art Therapy
The pre-art therapy minor is geared towards students who want to go on to graduate school for art therapy. The courses required for the minor are often required by the graduate schools as a pre-requisite for admission to their graduate programs in art therapy.
Studio Art
The popular studio art minor complements majors in the science, humanities and arts. It is very flexible. After completing the basics, students can try either a variety of media, or deep dive into one specific medium.
Students in related fields (architecture, graphic design and interior design) which require art classes often choose this minor.
