Recognizing Excellence in Computer Science
Each year, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) Student Awards recognize the most outstanding students for their academic achievements, leadership, and contributions to the OSU community. These awards celebrate the talent, dedication, and hard work of exceptional students across CAS departments, including Computer Science (CS).
- What is the Outstanding Senior Award?
The CS Outstanding Senior Award is given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated:
- Academic Excellence – High GPA and rigorous coursework, including 3000+ level CS courses
- Leadership & Service – Active involvement in student organizations, mentoring, or volunteering
- Professional Development – Internships, research, conference presentations, or industry engagement
- Impact on the Department & OSU – Positive contributions to the university community
Award recipients are nominated by faculty and recognized during the annual CAS Awards Ceremony.
- Eligibility Requirements
To be considered for the CS Outstanding Senior Award, students must:
- Be graduating in Fall 2024, Spring 2025, Summer 2025, or Fall 2025
- Have a strong academic record and involvement in the CS department
- Show leadership, research, or professional development contributions

How to Apply
Students can self-nominate or be nominated by faculty members. The application process includes:
- Submitting an unofficial transcript and resume.
- Answering short essay questions on leadership, achievements, and future goals.
- Submitting a letter of recommendation.
Recognition & Ceremony
The selected Outstanding Senior will be honored at the CAS Awards Ceremony:
- Date: Thursday, April 10, 2025
- Time: 6:00 PM
- Location: Student Union Ballroom
- Guests Welcome: Friends, family, and faculty members are encouraged to attend.
