Bio
Francisco Beltrán is an assistant professor of history at Oklahoma State University. He is a U.S. historian who specializes in Chicanx and Latinx history, race and ethnicity, immigration, borderlands, and oral history. He is co-author, along with Paul Spickard and Laura Hooton, of the revised edition of "Almost All Aliens: Immigration, Race, and Colonialism in American History and Identity" (Routledge 2022), which examines U.S. immigration history through race and ethnicity lenses. He is currently working on a manuscript that examines different approaches to civil rights captured by Mexican American-Chicana/o community newspapers in San Diego, California, during the 1960s and 1970s. Dr. Beltrán completed his Ph.D. at the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2019. He has previously taught at the University of California, Santa Barbara, San Francisco State University, the University of Michigan and Reed College.
