Memristors and Neuromorphic Materials
A neuromorphic material mimics that of neurons in the brain, a goal of ours is to study and characterize a type of this material. Silica Nanosprings are used as a scaffolding for oxide semiconductors, conductive graphite, and magnetic nanoparticles to design neuromorphic devices. We use the memristive properties of oxide semiconductors, magnetic response of nanoparticles, and percolative pathways created by the nanospring junctions. We then search for spatiotemporal variations of the devices response which emulates the brain cell electrical activities.
The Setup
Our setup for measuring the electrical response of different neuromorphic materials.
