Syeda Barkha

Bio
Syeda Barkha was born and raised in Chittagong, Bangladesh. There, she completed
her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Asian University for Women in 2017 being a
recipient of IKEA Foundation Scholarship from 2012-2017. Then, she had the opportunity
to earn a Master’s degree in Economic Policy in Global Markets from Central European
University located at Budapest, Hungary with a CEU Master’s Scholarship.
Her Master’s thesis "Impacts of Women’s Education on Maternal Health in Bangladesh"
explored how mothers' health as an indicator was impacted by education and recommended
policies in the context of Bangladesh. Barkha also worked as an intern research officer
in one of the top multi-disciplinary research organizations in Bangladesh, the "Bangladesh
Institute of Development Studies (BIDS)" in 2018.
In fall 2022, she graduated with a M.S. degree in Economics from the University of Nevada - Reno, USA. Barkha is currently a graduate student and working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Sociology at Oklahoma State University.
