Fahim Tahsan

Bio

     Fahim is a graduate student pursuing a Master’s in Sociology at Oklahoma State University, where he also serves as a graduate teaching assistant. He has a deep interest in climate change, environmental sociology, gender studies, public health, and disaster risk management. During his undergraduate studies, he contributed to several research projects, including an investigation of dengue fever awareness among slum dwellers in Dhaka (published in the International Journal of Public Health), an analysis of chronic health effects of arsenic exposure in Bangladesh, the impact of salinity on food security in coastal regions, and a study on the morphological changes of the Padma River and its impact on livelihoods using satellite imagery.

     Professionally, he has worked with various organizations, including the Asian Development Bank, the International Centre for Climate Change and Development, and the Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies. His experience spans program assistance, research, and operations management. He also served as a Program Development Assistant at Community Development for Peace and a Research Intern at Resilient Bangladesh, contributing to community development and climate resilience initiatives. He has also served in leadership positions, including as General Secretary of the BUP Disaster Management Forum and Executive Member of the United Nations Youth and Students Association in Bangladesh. In addition, he participated in the Disaster Management Exercise at Bangladesh University of Professionals and the Disaster Response Exercise and Exchange  organized by the Ministry of Disaster Management, Bangladesh.

     At Oklahoma State University, he is continuing to deepen his understanding of sociology, exploring how social factors intersect with environmental challenges. His time at OSU is enriching both his academic journey and his personal growth, as he connects with diverse perspectives and contributes to meaningful discussions on societal issues.
