CAS Summer in New Zealand

Travel dates: May 15 - 27, 2025.
There will be an info session held in Classroom Building (CLB) 122, on Thursday, December 5th, at 3:00pm. All interested students are welcome!
Travel with us to discover the fascinating world of geothermal energy and geysers in New Zealand. You will delve into the science behind geothermal energy, understanding how geysers form, covering the intricate interplay between microbiology and geothermal systems, and learning about the role of geothermal energy sources in shaping the indigenous and modern-day culture of New Zealand. Visit the breathtaking backdrop of New Zealand's landscapes and vibrant indigenous Maori cultural heritage as featured in the famous films like Lord of the Rings. This program will visit cities in New Zealand’s North Island such as Auckland, Taupo and Wellington, and explore unique locations including Hobbiton, Huka Falls, Rangitoto Island, an authentic Māori village, and meeting the local wildlife. Geothermal highlights include the largest geysers in the southern hemisphere, Huka Prawn Park, Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, Waimangu Volcanic Valley, learning from local experts and more!
** CAS study abroad will be enforcing COVID vaccination and/or testing requirements based on the regulations of the country of designation. Please note the situation and requirements in other countries can fluctuate over time.

Deposit:  $100

Due at time of acceptance to program.
OSU Course Tuition & Fees:  $1,364.70

Billing for 3 credit hours is the same for both in-state and out-of-state students.
Program Fees:  $2,984.30

Airfare and the $200 Study Abroad Admin Fee are not included in the program costs. See below for details on what is included and not-included in the payment schedule.
