Jason Estala receives promotion

Jason Estala was promoted this summer as the new Assistant Professor of Costume Design here at Oklahoma State University. Prior to his promotion Jason was the Costume Lab Manager and Instructor of Professional Practice for the Theatre Department.  Jason continues to build on his experience in Costume Design by completing summer research in California.
 
Within the Theatre industry, research is usually hands-on experience. Jason spent the summer in Santa Rosa, California at the Summer Repertory Theatre. Where he designed costumes on two productions at the Summer Rep Theatre: “The Importance of Being Earnest” by Oscar Wilde and Rogers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella”. The Summer Rep Theatre are a professional summer-stock company that produces a dynamic season of plays and musicals. 
 
Jason is the Vice Commissioner of Costume Technology for USITT (United States Institute for Theatre Technology). This year at the national USITT conference in Baltimore, MD, he taught a hat making workshop and a leather working workshop. Jason shares his experience and talent to the Stillwater community by teaching youth classes at the Prairie Arts Center in downtown Stillwater.
 
Jason is a costume designer and technologist originally from El Paso, Texas. Jason holds a BA from New Mexico State University and a MFA in Costume Design and Technology from the University of Florida. Jason has designed costumes for the Brevard Music Center, Pensacola Opera, NMSU Theatre, Dona Ana Lyrical Opera, Atlanta Ballet, PK Younge Theatre, Florida Players, The Spoleto Festival, NBC/PBS, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, University of Florida, University of California, Florida State University and now Oklahoma State University.
