Why Sociology?
AdvisingWe encourage all undergraduate sociology students to make their advising appointment through the Slate system, which is accessible 24/7.
Appointments are currently being offered via Zoom, phone, on in person by request from 8:30am-5:00pm, M-F. Please contact the advisor directly if you need accommodations outside of these hours. Instructions:
- Proceed to the Slate system, select the "Advising" tab and verify that your advisor is correct.
- Select a day and time available for your appointment, and note in the comments which appointment style you prefer, reason for your appointment, etc.
- Once you have scheduled your appointment, you will receive an email confirmation. If you've selected a virtual appointment, you will receive the link under the appointment style. The link is labeled: "virtual" and will be available to join, 5 minutes prior to scheduled time of your appointment. You will not receive a separate link, and/or meeting ID and password.

Sociology Club
The Sociology Club offers an opportunity for undergraduates to get involved with the sociology department, gain leadership opportunities, and participate in off-campus activities.
Alpha Kappa Delta
Alpha Kappa Delta is an International Sociology Honor Society that seeks to “promote excellence in scholarship in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.”
Opportunities within CAS
The College of Arts and Sciences is home to 24 departments with an abundant number of student organizations housed within them, as well as organizations through CAS.
